Security Update on ZenCash Saturday June 10th 2pm
We’re trying to keep regular flow of information out to the community, so here’s what’s going on with wallet security that you need to know about:
- We’re currently aware of 12 duplicate Tx from ZCL to ZEN, which we believe is caused by running old client software without updated replay attack protection.
- It is recommended NOT to attempt to reclaim ZEN balances from ZCL wallet files and if possible to refrain from moving around ZEN right now.
- Updated wallets with permanent replay protection will be released soon.
- We’re planning a hard fork (HF) at block 117,000 (6/12/2017 14:30 EDT, or 18:30 UTC) to force all clients to upgrade to versions that contain indefinite replay attack protection.
In the background, we have Team Veritas from IOHK spun up on a deep-dive review into the current code and working an exciting longer-term solution option we’ll be announcing in upcoming news.
The way the community has come together has been awesome! We’re looking forward to building cool stuff to make the world a better place one block at a time.
