Horizen Community Star Interviews – Psyrax
The Horizen community is full of wonderful people from around the world. Psyrax is one of our hardest working volunteers and we are so lucky to have him!
Psyrax is well known in the community for helping community members fix issues on Discord and ZenHelp. He also helps keep the Horizen community safe from scammers.
We want to give him a huge shout out for everything he has done to help our team and our community. We wanted to learn more about him and what brought him to our community.
What drew you to blockchain technology?
I was originally introduced to blockchain technology through Ethereum. I had a work colleague who bought in it and the idea of a decentralised ledger really piqued my interest. I had some friends who used to GPU mine bitcoin in the early days, and when presented with the opportunity to GPU mine Ethereum I jumped on board. This then moved onto mining Zcash, Zencash, and Horizen.
What drew you to Horizen?
I started supporting the project well before Horizen. I started playing around with the testnet of Zcash in 2016 and soon moved my miners from Ethereum to Zcash once mainnet was launched and GPU mining became available. After hanging around the community a while I decided to move with the people who were not happy with the founders rewards to Zclassic, and it quickly saw me set up a mining pool on Zclassic and start earning coins. The next logical move was to Zencash with the most impressive technology shift for me being the introduction of secure nodes with their end-to-end encryption and the stipend for running a full node. This blew my mind and I knew I just had to be a part of this epoch. Since then I have wanted to continue my learning and provide support and insight to those who have wanted to set up and maintain their own nodes. I look forward to the future with the release of sidechains and how these can add additional value to the Horizen platform.
Is there anything about yourself you’d like to share with the Horizen Community?
I have a blog available, where I provide blog posts on common questions and any findings I have with running nodes and other Horizen-based technologies. I am hoping to in the future expand my blog to include the upcoming sidechain technologies.
Thank you so much for being part of the community and volunteering with the team, Psyrax! We greatly appreciate everything you do.
