How to Contribute and Become Part of the ZenCash Team
Many people have suggestions on how ZenCash can do better. As a co-founder, I try to listen to all the suggestions.
The issue with getting them implemented is not that they are not good suggestions, because in most cases they are. The thing is, it takes time to do get stuff done, and even more to get it done effectively. There are only so many hours in a day, and even though some of us are working on ZenCash full time, there are only so many things one person can do. The answer is to hire or contract more, and that takes time also.
We get more done by having more people help. The people that have been here since the start, have contributed to ZenCash in both exciting and challenging times, and demonstrated their ability to effectively work and contribute to the team earn positions with more responsibility.
For people that are interested in participating, and in earning ZenCash from the Treasury, there is definitely opportunity to contribute, and many ways to get started.
The best way to get started is to start. Take action. Even if you are new, do something. This is an open community. You can focus on whatever you like, and any way that people are able to support ZenCash is welcome.
I know I am at the limit of what I can do on a daily basis, and a lot of other people are also, so one way we get more things done is for more people to contribute to the project. It can be little ways, big ways, or doing stuff nobody else has thought of. One of the nice things is that there are always people looking at ZenCash from many different angles, and making suggestions on tasks and jobs that can be done. Pick one and do it. If you really don’t know, tell people in the #general thread that you are new, you would like to contribute, and in what area you have skills and experience in.
The way the team of “regulars” has been built so far is by individual community members contributing contributing consistently and well, and after a while we all realize we need to keep that person around because they have become an important member of the team.
Some people contribute by posting proposals in the forum, or answering requests for proposals, but the quickest and most effective way to become a recognized leader in a particular area is to start doing work. There are many recent examples of people who are helping to test the Secure Node system, writing blog posts, making videos, and answering questions to the new people who regularly join the Discord.
Talking about price does not move the project forward, so pumping the price or just getting people to buy to make the price go up is not helpful.
If you would like to contribute, and are not technical, the best way to do that is to start promoting ZenCash on your own, and publicize it. Go to a meetup and talk about it, make a youtube video, make a blog or steemit post, start bringing more people into the community somehow.
If you are technical or a developer, you can identify issues in any of the ZenCash Github projects, create pull requests, use the published code to make improvements, or create entirely new software. Some of the things that would be useful and well received in a proposal:
- Create a mobile SPV wallet that can remotely access a Zen node somewhere and send a shielded transaction.
- Fork a wallet from a different project, and make a wallet that can do multi-sig transaction.
- Get Zen added to an exchange.
- Create a video showing how to set up and use the Arizen wallet.
- Create a video demonstrating how to send individual or group messages in the Swing wallet.
If you want it done, start doing it, and ask people to join you to help. That’s a more effective way of getting results than sitting back and telling other people what they should be doing.
Once you have demonstrated an ability to contribute effectively and in a manner consistent with the ethos of Zen, over a sustained period of time, the people in the community will notice and recognize your contributions, and there will be a general agreement that it would be a good idea to continue to benefit from your work.
On the other hand, if what you are able to do at this point in time is make suggestions, that is also helpful. Please be patient when hoping that your suggestions is implemented. The people who are getting things done are sometimes too busy to listen to others tell them what they should be doing.

Thank you for this post.
It`s always good to rail people in specific ways.
Personally, i can`t see in the future Zen without Lighting and Atomic Swaps, what about this direction and to create a “cellule“ for the research of this area. Atomic Swaps would be priority number 1 in 2018. If we can anticipate we could take some market advantage.
